FAQs

To start making electronic (ACH) transfers, a connection for the bank account you want to use must be created. Before you try to connect your TD Ameritrade account to your bank account, we suggest contacting your bank to make sure that it permits ACH deposits and withdrawals, and that you have the correct routing and account numbers.

Once you have verified the correct information, a Move Money Advisor Authorization Form must be completed, and submitted to TD Ameritrade. To initiate this process with our administrative team, please click here.

Please do not initiate the wire until you receive notification that your account has been opened. To avoid a rejected wire or a delay in processing, include your active TD Ameritrade account number.

From the TD Ameritrade Institutional AdvisorClient portal select Documents. Once under documents, select Tax Documents. You can choose certain accounts or certain time ranges, and all your available tax documents will be listed for view and download.

The IRS generally requires that you file an amended return on Form 1040X. You may also wish to seek the advice of a licensed tax advisor.

TD Ameritrade must issue a corrected 1099 when mutual funds and Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) reallocate or reclassify their distributions in January for the previous tax year. Occasionally this process is not complete, or TD Ameritrade has not yet received the updated information, by the time 1099s are due to be mailed.

IRS regulations require that TD Ameritrade issue a corrected 1099 within 30 days of receiving information showing that the previously issued form was incorrect.

Our advisors will get to know you and your family personally, understand your financial priorities and determine clear strategies to help you achieve your goals and prepare for your financial future.

We are a fee based fiduciary advisory firm based in Atlanta, GA. Consulting is based on an hourly or flat fee basis.  For investments we work on a fee basis, there are no trading fees, no commissions, no wire fees (on our end), no check book fees, no transaction fees. Very transparent. The one area that we do work on commissions is with insurance. We are not aligned with one company and will shop the market to see the best fit for our clients.

Scarlet Oak Financial Services uses TD Ameritrade Institutional as our custodian. TD Ameritrade Institutional is committed to exceptional customer service. They practice a relationship-based service culture, allowing Scarlet Oak Financial Services more time to spend with our clients and prospects. Their systems, policies, and partnerships are carefully developed and maintained to safeguard our trading environment as well as your personal information and financial assets. Through TD Ameritrade Institutional our clients will experience one of the highest levels of security in the industry with the following TD Ameritrade Asset Protection Guarantee:

“If you lose cash or securities from your account due to unauthorized activity, we’ll reimburse you for the cash or shares of securities you lost. We’re promising you this protection, which adds to the provisions that already govern your account, if unauthorized activity ever occurs and we determine it was through no fault of your own. Of course, unauthorized activity does not include actions or transactions undertaken by or at the request of you, your investment advisors or family members, or anyone else whom you have allowed access to your account or to your account information for any purpose, such as trading securities, writing checks or making withdrawals or transfers.

We promise this protection if you work with us in four ways:

  • Keep your personal identifying information and account information secure and confidential, because sharing your User ID, password, PIN, account number or other standard means of authentication with other people means you authorize them to take action in your account.
  • Keep your contact information up-to-date with us, so that we can contact you in case of suspected fraud.
  • Review your account frequently and your statements promptly and report any suspicious or unauthorized activity to us immediately in accordance with your Client Agreement.
  • Take the actions we request if your account is ever compromised and cooperate with our investigation.

If you help us protect you in these basic ways, we’ll promise no fine print and no footnotes … just our commitment to protect the assets you entrust to us.”

Our clients will have real-time access to their accounts. Through the advisor client portal, you will have a simple, secure way to access account balances, positions, transaction history and more.

As your financial advisor, you have granted us discretionary authority to manage your investment accounts, and this discretion permits us to invest in opportunities that best meet your objectives, time horizon and fits within your risk tolerance. We have managed account options along with custom portfolios depending on clients needs and risk levels

We allocate your accounts using a disciplined approach that accentuates short and long-term trends. We analyze the following trends to identify investment opportunities:

  • Secular – long-term trends and themes
  • Macro – current health of the global economy
  • Tactical – opportunistic investments that depend on the economic cycle

After identifying these opportunities, we screen, select and benchmark specific investment vehicles to capitalize on the underlying investment themes we have identified. Collectively, these trends and investment vehicles offer clients portfolio diversification and the potential to take advantage of short and long-term opportunities. To monitor these investments, we have an investment committee that meets monthly to address the market and monitor how the underlying investments (positions) are performing. If a position is underperforming its benchmark, we analyze it further to determine the cause and decide if it still meets our selection criteria.

Understanding your situation and having piece of mind can be overwhelming. Just try googling anything financial and you will get a multitude of information that may or may not apply to you.  Just like a doctor can help diagnose and help with your health, a fiduciary financial advisor can help with ensuring your wealth health is on track

Fiduciary means to hold a confidence or trust. A financial services industry professional who has a fiduciary responsibility to his or her clients must put a client’s needs and interests ahead of his or her own. Financial Planners have a fiduciary responsibility to their clients.

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) are places to check and make sure the financial advisor has not had disciplinary action taken. Check BrokerCheck here.

Typically, the first year many clients opt to meet quarterly or every six months. After that many go semiannual or annually, but it is entirely up to the advisor and client to decide based on the needs of the client.

We have professional managed portfolio options at different risk levels

Open architecture portfolios are also available, and we can review many different options

Options include:

  • ETF- Exchange Traded Funds
  • Institutional Mutual Funds
  • REITS
  • Equities/Stocks
  • Bonds
  • Life insurance
  • Disability
  • Long Term Care
  • Annuities
